Recreational Therapist
An important part of recovery is reconnecting and discovering the things in our life that bring us happiness, peace and connection. An important part of recovery is building an identity outside of our illness and the memories that keep us stuck. Recreational therapy is a perfect way to bring these elements to life in your treatment program. This may look like healing your relationship with physical activity and competitive sports or expressing yourself through creative mediums such as art, music, or dance or simply finding ways to build connecting within your community. No matter what it is our Recreational Therapy program can work to build a specific plan to best support you and your recovery goals.

My name is Gillian and I am a registered social worker and therapist with extensive frontline experience in mental health. Over the years, I have worked in various mental health settings, including live-in, day treatment, and inpatient care, providing essential support to individuals and their families dealing with a range of challenges such as eating disorders, emotion regulation difficulties, substance use disorders, anxiety, depression, and other mood-related disorders.

Megan Firth
I’m Megan Firth, an anti-diet registered dietitian with over a decade of experience studying and practicing dietetics. I’m passionate about dismantling diet culture and guiding clients on their journey to heal their relationship with food. I support individuals and families of all ages, shapes and sizes to pursue eating disorder recovery by sharing knowledge about the impact of stress, mood, and diet culture on our ability to nourish ourselves, debunking nutrition myths, as well as addressing digestion challenges and nutrition complications of eating disorders.
During the early stages of recovery I will empower caregivers to build meal support skills, as well as create meal plans designed to renourish the body, challenge food rules, and fuel movement. Clients who are further along their journey will be guided to learn to honour their hunger cues, nourish their body unconditionally and make peace with food using the principles of intuitive eating. I’m Kaylin Walkinshaw, a Clarity Breathwork Practitioner. My passion is empowering people no matter their age to feel confident being their authentic self.
I believe that everyone deserves to live the life of their dreams, and to bring their passions into the world. Trauma, mental health struggles, and stress can cause us to go into our shells and hide who we really are. With Clarity Breathwork we can peal the layers back piece by piece, and heal in our mind, body, and spirit.
I have experience working with complex mental health needs and supporting people to find strategies that work for them in the short-term, and addressing underlying causes to support long-term healing. My intention is to always maintain a non-judgmental, inclusive, and open space for youth and adults to heal in a gentle way that is authentic to them. I come to this practice with extensive training in Clarity Breathwork as a Practitioner. and my own lived experience as a person who has used Clarity Breathwork to heal from past Trauma and co-morbid mental health struggles.

Rachel (she/her) is a Registered Social Worker (RSW, MSW) with the Ontario College of Social Worker and Social Service Worker (OCSWSSW) & with the Ontario Association of Social Worker (OASW). With a graduate degree in Social Work from the University of Windsor, an undergraduate degree in Social Work from York University, & a Community and Justice Services diploma from Sheridan, I am passionate about supporting individuals and families on their journey to improving their lives, wherever they are in their journey.

Katie is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and has completed her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology at Yorkville University.
Katie works with children, adolescents, parents and caregivers. Katie views client issues through a humanistic lens and believes in each individuals strength, potential for growth, and ability to overcome. Since receiving my degree in School and Child Clinical Psychology I have gained extensive experience working in the areas of child and adolescent mental health, and developed a specialization in the treatment of adolescent eating disorders. With over 20 years of experience working in the field of eating disorders, I have supported numerous youths and their families across York Region in their journeys back to health and wellness.
